Obesity as a Chronic Disease: Overview and Novel New Therapy (GLP-1A)

The seminar was presented by Dr. Qusai Al-Zajjaji, Specialist in Endocrinology and Diabetes, who delivered a comprehensive lecture addressing obesity as a complex chronic disease that represents a growing global health challenge due to its strong association with several chronic conditions, including diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and cardiovascular diseases.

During the seminar, Dr. Al-Zajjaji reviewed the latest scientific updates and therapeutic advances in obesity management, with particular focus on modern GLP-1A-based therapies and their significant role in appetite regulation, glycemic regulation and insulin resistance reduction, weight reduction, and minimizing obesity-related health complications. He also highlighted findings from recent clinical studies and evidence-based medical practices in this field.

The seminar witnessed active scientific interaction and discussions among attendees regarding modern treatment strategies and the clinical challenges associated with obesity management.

The event was attended by the University President, the Scientific Assistant President, and the Dean of the College of Medicine, alongside a distinguished group of faculty members, teaching assistants, university staff, and specialized physicians from outside the university, reflecting the importance of the topic and the university’s commitment to advancing scientific and educational activities.
