With International Expertise, Subtain University Sets the "Clinical Education" Roadmap for its First Cohort

In line with its vision to shape the future of medical education in Iraq, Subtain University for Medical Sciences held a high-level specialized workshop entitled: "Promoting Bedside Teaching." This initiative aims to enhance academic and field readiness while developing the skills of the teaching staff in accordance with rigorous international standards.

The workshop witnessed active participation and leadership presence from:

  • Professor Dr. Mohammed Fawzi Al-Qanbar / Dean of the College of Medicine.
  • A group of experts and consultants from Tehran University of Medical Sciences.
  • A gathering of professors and specialized medical cadres from the province.

Strategic Pillars of the Workshop:

The workshop reviewed qualitative strategies aimed at shifting the educational process from theoretical halls to direct practice, most notably:

1. Bedside Teaching Protocol: Focusing on transforming the "patient's bedside" into a comprehensive educational platform. This allows students to link clinical symptoms with academic knowledge while reinforcing medical ethics that place the patient at the center of attention.

2. Modern Clinical Assessment Framework: Reviewing global assessment tools to measure student performance within teaching hospitals. This ensures that educational outcomes go beyond memorization to include diagnostic skills, medical decision-making, and high-efficiency management of critical cases.

3. Logistics and Regulatory Readiness: Participants discussed the final plans and regulations for integrating the first cohort of university students into teaching hospitals, ensuring a seamless training flow and an ideal educational environment that meets the ambitions of both the university and its students.

Conclusion and Sustainable Goals:

The workshop emphasized that elevating the quality of medical education is an ongoing process requiring openness to international expertise. Therefore, collaboration with Tehran University represents a fundamental pillar in knowledge exchange and field curriculum development, ensuring that health institutions are provided with doctors who are fully prepared from the moment of graduation.
