Department of Community Medicine

Overview

The Department of Community Medicine is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of communities through education, research, and preventive healthcare. As a key component of the College of Medicine, the department equips medical students with the knowledge and skills needed to understand the social, environmental, and behavioral factors that influence health, while promoting disease prevention and health promotion at both individual and population levels.

The department integrates public health principles with evidence-based medical practice, preparing future physicians to address contemporary health challenges through epidemiology, biostatistics, health education, primary healthcare, and community-oriented medical practice. Through classroom learning, field-based experiences, and community engagement activities, students develop a comprehensive understanding of healthcare beyond the hospital setting and learn the importance of delivering equitable, patient-centered, and community-focused care.
