Department Overview

The Department of Microbiology and Immunology at Subtain University of Medical Sciences is a dynamic academic hub dedicated to exploring the microscopic world and the complexities of the immune system, providing comprehensive education that bridges foundational biomedical sciences with clinical application. The department is led by Prof. Ali Mansoor Al Ameri, ensuring strong academic direction and research leadership.

The department’s academic and research activities span bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, and immunology, with a strong emphasis on antimicrobial resistance, host–pathogen interactions, vaccine development, and immune-mediated diseases. Faculty members are actively engaged in advancing molecular diagnostics and bioinformatics-driven approaches to infectious disease research.

Equipped with modern teaching and research laboratories, the department supports hands-on student training and innovative scientific inquiry in microbiology and immunology. Its integrated approach to education, research, and academic development ensures that graduates are well-prepared to understand disease mechanisms and contribute to evidence-based medical practice.
